Traditionally circuit designers run hundreds of simulations of the complete circuit, and sweep W, L and currents of the individual MOSFETS. This is in our opinion a waste of time, boring, and gives no insight. With ProMOST you can quickly calculate the W, L, and bias points outside your simulator, and use the simulator to verify your design. Its much faster, and give good insight where your circuit runs into problems.
For example: You are an analog designer: if you have a certain current flowing into a circuit branch and if you need a certain gm, then ProMOST tells you the W of your transistor. But you can also find the current, where the f_t of your transistor is maximal, given a certain geometry. Or a practical problems these days: you need to make current source, while the headroom is only 0.2V and the noise must be low enough. With ProMOST you can calculate W and L within milli-seconds. In fact in ProMOST you can plot any transistor property against any other property Like: VGS versus ID, gm versus W at constant ID, drain noise current versus L while keeping ID constant? no problem!
